Short Takes - People & Positions:Eric Kelly To Lead Snap Appliance IncComputer industry veteran Eric Kelly has been appointed president and chief executive officer of newly independent Snap Appliance Inc, provider of a volume-leading brand of network attached storage (NAS) products, including the award-winning Snap Server and Guardian lines. During his more than 20-year career, Kelly has built a solid reputation as a strategic leader in sales, marketing and operations, with a proven ability to manage rapidly growing organizations. His broad experience includes software, enterprise systems, storage subsystems, computer peripherals and application solutions. Prior to Snap Appliance, Kelly was president of Maxtor Corp's Network Systems Group, a major supplier of NAS solutions. Previously, he was chief operating officer at iSyndicate Corp and vice president of Dell Computer's Enterprise Group, responsible for managing a $1 billion business. He also has held senior-level executive positions at IBM, Connor Peripherals, and Diamond Multimedia Systems. Kelly earned a bachelor's degree in business management from San Jose State University, an MBA degree from San Francisco State University, and an International Executive MBA from Harvard University. Tony Marzulli To Lead New EMC Open SW Marketing InitiativeEMC Corporation has announced that Tony Marzulli, an executive with two decades of IT marketing and engineering experience, has joined the information storage leader as vice president, Open Software Marketing. Marzulli, who was most recently senior vice president of Marketing for Lawson Software and a member of the company's Executive Committee, is the third software-focused and eighth industry executive to join EMC in the past twelve months. He reports to David Goulden, executive vice president of Global Marketing and Business Development. Goulden said, "In order for EMC to continue to extend its software lead, the company must closely align market need with its aggressive engineering efforts to help customers manage their multi-flavored networked storage environments more efficiently and cost effectively. The broad software marketing and product development experience Tony brings to EMC's open software strategy will help EMC execute on the promise of AutoIS, delivering the world's most functional and automated management tools to customers." Under Marzulli's leadership, Open Software Marketing addresses current and potential EMC Open Software user needs to develop and accelerate the worldwide adoption of the market leader's storage management software portfolio, including products in support of EMC's AutoIS strategy such as the ControlCenter family and PowerPath software. Marzulli spent five years at Lawson Software, the Minnesota-based provider of mission-critical enterprise software, where he oversaw the company's product marketing, communications, and alliances initiatives. Prior to Lawson, he spent 14 years at Hewlett-Packard in a number of marketing and engineering roles. Marzulli holds an MBA from Boston University and a BS from West Chester University. EMC named Chuck Hollis vice president, Storage Platforms Marketing, also reporting to Goulden. Platforms Marketing works closely with customers and prospects to define and drive market need and strategy for EMC's industry-leading information storage platforms, which include the Symmetrix and CLARiiON families of networked storage systems, Celerra network-attached storage (NAS) systems, Connectrix fibre channel connectivity systems, Centera content-addressed storage (CAS) systems, and related platform-specific software such as SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility) and TimeFinder. Hollis has spent eight years at EMC managing various product marketing, professional services and field roles. He holds a BS from the University of California at Santa Cruz. EMC Strengthens Open Software TeamMarzulli is the third software executive to join EMC in 2002. Chris Gahagan, formerly of BMC Software, and Peter Conway, formerly of Microsoft, became part of EMC's Open Software management team earlier this year. Gahagan, EMC's Senior Vice President of Storage Infrastructure Software, oversees the development of software that masks the complexity of heterogeneous storage environments and enables the automated provisioning, presentation, and mobility of information storage infrastructure software. Conway, vice president of Software Product Management, drives product and program management in support of EMC's AutoIS strategy, which provides management technologies and heterogeneous storage applications that deliver advanced capabilities necessary to make storage management automated, simple and open. Gahagan and Conway report to Erez Ofer, executive vice president of Open Software Operations. Guillaume Imberti Promoted To GM Of FalconStor EMEA OpsFalconStor Software Inc, a leading provider of network storage infrastructure software, has announced that Guillaume Imberti has been appointed as General Manager for FalconStor's EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) operations.
