INFINITE DATA STORAGE INTRODUCES THE KOMODO

Imagine having one device the size of a standard portable CD player that lets you access and record data on CDs and access DVDs. Infinite Data Storage (IDS) has made this vision a reality with the Komodo. It's a high-performance, portable CD-RW and DVD-ROM drive in a single product, eliminating the need to carry multiple drives.

Amidst ever-increasing quantities of digital information, today's business executives and consumers are bombarded with multiple devices for storing and accessing this data. The Komodo's ultra compact and lightweight design make it ideal for people who need portable and easy access to large amounts and varied types of data. Using a high-speed USB 2.0 interface and category leading 24x read, write and re-write speeds, users can download, burn and access all types of data.

With 800MB of storage capacity, the Komodo offers the flexibility to store data on 8cm or 12cm CD-R and CD-RW media. It supports recording and playback of music, video images and business data. The media is then accessible on PCs, DVD players, Hi-Fi systems and game consoles around the globe.

"Building on the success of our data recording and combined audio recording products, the Komodo marks the next phase of our corporate vision as we move into DVD innovation," said Jim Leslie, managing director, Infinite Data Storage. "The Komodo continues our tradition of simplifying data storage and retrieval with portable and personal solutions that work with existing media so users don't have to learn new techniques. Now consumers need only one, compact and portable device for all types of data."

"Personal data storage has become complicated and cumbersome with many different devices," said Wolfgang Schlichting, research manager for Removable Storage at IDC. "We expect to see the growth of all-in-one solutions for storing and accessing large amounts of data, anywhere and anytime," he added.

About Infinite Data Storage

Infinite Data Storage (IDS), headquartered in Dunfermline, Scotland, was founded in September 1999 by a management and design team that was previously involved in the development of key removable storage and writable CD products at Iomega. With more than 100 years of experience in the data storage industry between them, IDS' team has an impressive product list to its credit including Samba and the Calypso CD audio burner drives. As well as designing and licensing its own product range, the IDS team now offers its expertise and intellectual property under license to global designers of consumer electronic devices such as "tablet" PCs, audio systems and digital cameras.
