StorCard, xwave DELIVER SOLUTIONS FOR NEW SECURITY DEMANDS

StorCard Inc, a pioneer in secure, portable storage products, and xwave one of Canada's largest IT-services companies, have announced that they have joined forces to deliver innovative security solutions targeted to meet a broad range of government requirements. Under the agreement, xwave will deliver a biometrically supported, cost effective, and tamper resistant government solution based on the StorCard platform that combines magnetic storage, intelligence and security technologies in the ubiquitous credit card form factor.

Utilizing StorCard's unique combination of storage capacity, on-card processing and security technologies, xwave's government solution will incorporate multiple biometrics (fingerprint, face, hand and iris scan), security profiles and electronic access keys of citizens, employees and clients on a single card while preserving any existing investment in smart cards and applications. StorCard enables secure, encrypted data storage with flexible policy management greater than existing portable storage technologies, such as flash memory or smart cards.

xwave will integrate StorCard technology to create applications and deliver solutions that target various applications, including network access, database access, file encryption, Internet security, e-commerce, ATMs, traveler authentication, and physical access.

"The development of robust, portable biometric technology is critical to homeland security-to increase safety, protect sensitive information, cut costs, reduce fraud and build a technologically stronger and more secure continent -- and StorCard is the enabling solution," said Ranald McGillis, vice president, Central Business Unit, xwave. "As a leading systems integrator and developer of safety and mission-critical technology, xwave has more than two decades experience delivering secure solutions for all areas of the public and private sector in Canada."

"With xwave's systems integration expertise, we can solve customers' need for capacity, security, manageability, transportability, and convenience, yet easily integrate into their existing systems and infrastructure," said Finis Conner, founder and Chairman of StorCard Inc. "StorCard is the convenient, secure, and affordable storage solution enabling individuals, enterprises, government organizations and content providers to manage and exchange information safely and securely wherever and whenever it is needed."

According to a recent market report published by the International Biometric Group, global industry revenues are expected to reach $4 billion by 2007 with government sector leading. The various scenarios in which government agencies must identify and authenticate both citizens and employees, particularly subsequent to 9/11, is a critical growth factor.

StorCard offers greater capacity, flexible policy management, robust encryption, and portability -- all in a familiar and convenient credit card form factor. And with the choice of industry standard USB or PCMCIA interfaces, StorCard integrates into existing systems and infrastructure for easy deployment and investment protection. Commercial availability is expected in the second half of 2003.
