WindFire ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL REPOSITORY MANAGEMENT PLATFORM

WindFire Technology has announced the availability of its virtual repository management (VRM) technology which allows IT organizations to view, access and manage both structured and unstructured enterprise information as though they were in a single repository.

As a core component of WindFire's Xtorm Data Server, the VRM technology allows data access and integration across disparate repositories including Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, legacy (mainframe) platforms, proprietary platforms and file systems. Designed to be highly scalable and secure, the Xtorm Data Server can be used to tie information together regardless of the data type, location, or application source.

The Xtorm Data Server is a central component of WindFire's enterprise information management (EIM) offering which includes enterprise content management, business process management and virtual repository management applications. Developed on a J2EE, XML and Unicode foundation, the integrated suite is designed to be embedded into existing business applications, thus it is targeted to system integrators, ISVs and in-house IT developers.

"A virtual repository makes so much sense, because it allows you to leverage data apart from the source application," explained WindFire CEO Maurice Correa. "For example, scanned documents can be easily associated with CRM records, Web content or even mainframe legacy data. And because it's virtual, the costs and resource requirements are minimal."

WindFire's EIM solution is designed specifically for production-level transaction processing environments. The company's VRM platform plays a central role by enabling rapid data access, management and storage for both structured and unstructured data. This VRM technology also includes dynamic integration adapters for concurrent access, connection, integration, management, and optimization of large-scale information resources.

WindFire's entire EIM suite is designed as integrated and embeddable components, thus the VRM platform can leverage any or all of WindFire's applications such as object and document management, hierarchical storage management and workflow. This modular approach affords several benefits: Developers can extend the capabilities of existing business applications, and deployment is much quicker and less costly than other applications.
