PRINCETON SOFTECH EXPANDS ACTIVE ARCHIVING TO HP-UX/CENTERA

Princeton Softech, a pioneer and leader in active archiving technologies, has announced the general availability of Princeton Softech's Archive for Servers 5.1 with support for Hewlett-Packard's widely used HP-UX UNIX operating environment.

Release 5.1 allows companies to optimize network facilities and take advantage of high-speed processing to archive large volumes of relational data. It also enables cost-effective storage alternatives including the capability to store archived data on EMC's Centera content addressed storage (CAS) platform. Most importantly, Archive for Servers preserves the complete business context of the archived data, which can be easily accessed and managed using EMC Centera.

"Princeton Softech is responding to increasing customer demand for effective archiving and storage strategies across applications, databases and operating environments," said Lisa Cash, Princeton Softech's CEO. "The ability to archive relational data and store it in fixed content format on EMC Centera represents a complete enterprise solution that improves database performance and availability for all applications, while lowering data management and storage costs."

Expanded UNIX support allows the server component of Archive for Servers to be deployed on Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX platform (HP-UX 11.0, 11i, and above). Princeton Softech's Archive Server component can also be configured as a remote server on Microsoft Windows 2000/NT and Sun Microsystems' Solaris operating environment on SPARC architecture machines. In addition, Release 5.1 provides the ability to create primary and duplicate Archive Files that can be saved to any supported storage media, including tape, disk or EMC Centera platform.

Since forming a strategic partnership in September 2002, Princeton Softech and EMC Corporation have integrated Princeton Softech's Active Archive Solutions with EMC's Centera and are offering this comprehensive data archiving and data storage solution to help companies improve database performance and availability, while reducing costs. Archive for Servers safely converts structured relational data to the fixed-content format required by EMC Centera, the industry's first networked storage platform designed exclusively for fixed-content data. Using Archive for Servers, the archived data can be easily accessed and selectively restored when needed.
