PROCOM TO DEMONSTRATE ENHANCEMENTS TO NetFORCE AT CeBIT 2003

Information technology professionals from all over Europe will have a chance to experience the latest advancements in storage solutions when Procom Technology demonstrates its newly enhanced NetFORCE(R) series network-attached storage (NAS) filers at CeBIT 2003 in Hannover, Germany, March 12-19 (Booth #B01, Hall 01-IT, Stand 6d12). CeBIT is one of the world's largest, most influential information and communications technology trade shows.

Procom has offices in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the U.K., and its popular NetFORCE series enjoys a large and growing customer base throughout Europe. NetFORCE filers combine traditional NAS benefits -- such as ease of use and true file sharing in heterogeneous environments -- with the device interoperability, high availability and multi-terabyte scalability of storage area networks. Addressing the full spectrum of storage requirements, they feature a powerful combination of optimized software, open architecture and best-of-breed components that make them highly cost-effective and simple to install while providing exceptional manageability, performance, backup, recovery and security.

The new NetFORCE operating system (OS 4.2) includes numerous enhancements, such as:

  • bi-directional and many-to-one mirroring that expand the capabilities of Procom's ProMirror disaster recovery software option, allowing a mirror image of any NetFORCE file to be maintained almost any distance from the source, using existing networking infrastructure;
  • support for NDMP (Network Data Management Protocol) Version 3; improved cluster failover;
  • HBA multi-pathing, and improved scalability;
  • added checkpoint functionality, with object-based restore and local-directory access features that improve manageability, convenience and performance in recovering accidentally modified or deleted files; and
  • an intuitive object-oriented administration interface that presents information to users in a hierarchical fashion, similar to Microsoft Windows Explorer and other tree-oriented management tools.
