AppIQ TO LEVERAGE EMULEX HBAnyware CENTRALIZED MGMT SUITE

Emulex Corporation, one of the world's leading suppliers of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), and AppIQ, leading the open management revolution in storage management software, has announced that AppIQ will incorporate support for Emulex's recently announced HBAnyware management suite into its AppIQ Solution Suite.

The AppIQ Solution Suite is built on the SNIA Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S), an industry standard created for heterogeneous storage network management which is based on the Common Information Model (CIM) and Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM). The AppIQ Solution Suite is an application-integrated storage infrastructure management solution designed to simplify management and reduce the costs of complex storage environments.

Emulex's HBAnyware technology provides a centralized HBA management suite that enables complete management of Emulex HBAs and the ability to upgrade firmware anywhere in a SAN from a single console. HBAnyware complements and enhances third party management applications such as AppIQ Solution Suite by providing full visibility to the SAN and enabling dynamic access to critical SAN information such as port attributes, link status and discovery information.

HBAnyware is driver-based and uses in-band, industry-standard protocols, enabling full support for heterogeneous SANs without the need for remote agent software. Storage professionals will now be able to use AppIQ Solution Suite to discover more detailed information about the hosts, as well as their relationship to the storage area network. This functionality allows for more efficient and powerful storage planning and deployment.

AppIQ's solutions correlate the related elements from the storage subsystem to the application into a single entity so that IT managers can view and manage the infrastructure as a whole. This alignment enables customers to meet the real-time needs of the enterprise applications they support and easily solve the problems associated with growth, heterogeneity and interdependency.

AppIQ's solutions have also been tested as interoperable with the Emulex LightPulse family of HBAs, including the 2Gb/s LP9002L and LP9002DC, and the market-leading LP8000 for use in Solaris and Windows operating systems.
