CommVault Announces Availability Of QiNetix Version 4.2

CommVault Systems Inc, an industry-leading provider of unified enterprise data management solutions, has announced the general availability of CommVault QiNetix software, version 4.2. The expanded QiNetix 4.2 suite includes core products such as enterprise backup and recovery, migration and archiving, data availability, information lifecycle management and disaster recovery offerings. In addition, CommVault QiNetix 4.2 software expands its Common Technology Engine with the introduction of GridStor, a groundbreaking technology that leverages advanced data movement and provides transparent redundancy, fail over and load balancing of nearline and offline storage. GridStor technology provides customers with significantly reduced storage consumption, while dramatically raising performance, reliability and use of secondary storage resources. This technology, combined with other QiNetix version 4.2 enhancements, allows customers to cost-effectively meet today's pressing IT challenges by matching business needs with storage performance, all within a centralized policy-driven environment.

CommVault QiNetix 4.2 software high-level advancements include:

• Information Lifecycle Management: CommVault's new GridStor technology includes D2D2T movement, load balancing, failover, pooling and provisioning of storage resources to dramatically improve the use of disk, tape and optical storage for backup, migration and data availability needs.
• Enhanced Enterprise Backup and Recovery support: CommVault Galaxy 4.2 expands support for UNIX, Linux, Oracle, Netware and Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Also included are support for Exchange Server 2003, Lotus Domino Server (R6), DB2 (Windows), SAP R/3, Linux RH Advanced Server 2.1, and EMC Centera content addressed storage for protection and archiving data.
• Complete Data Availability and Disaster Recovery: The integration of Galaxy backup and recovery, DataMigrator and Quick Recovery provides a range of policy-based data management options flexible to meet any requirement -- from the data center to remote office -- to protect against disasters and/or to ensure that data is available when needed.
