TECH DATA FRANCE ACQUIRES GIGATAPE SA

Tech Data France SAS, a subsidiary of Tech Data Corporation, has announced the acquisition of certain assets of Gennevilliers, France-based Gigatape SA, a value-added distributor of storage solutions to IT resellers in the French market. Founded in 1988, Gigatape SA generated more than 9 million Euros ($9.52 million) in sales during its 2002 fiscal year, which ended December 31, 2002.

With this announcement, Tech Data France SAS creates at its Bussy-Saint-Georges site (77) in the Paris area, a storage business unit from the acquired assets of Gigatape SA. Terms and conditions of the purchase were not disclosed and are not material to the financial performance of Tech Data Corporation.

The product offering acquired from Gigatape SA includes comprehensive hardware and software storage solutions from major vendors such as StorageTek, Overland, Quantum, Tandberg Data and others. Gigatape SA services that Tech Data is integrating into its operations range from consultation during initial design phases to pre- and post-sale support encompassing installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of storage solutions. The company's expertise covers today's most popular operating system environments, including Windows NT, Netware, OS/400 and UNIX (IBM/AIX, HP-UX, SUN/SOLARIS and Linux).
