Beginning this month, Medweb customers can order VXA-2 tape drives and these certified automation products when purchasing PACS and Telemedicine webservers from Medweb.

VXA-2 dramatically increases the capacity and performance available to tape users who seek an alternative to DDS technology at similar pricing for drives and media. VXA-2 can record up to 160 GB* (compressed) to a single cartridge at a data transfer rate of up to 12 MB/sec* (compressed), and the tape drive has an MSRP beginning at $999 giving it a truly significant price-performance advantage over other storage products. VXA-2 offers twice the speed and four times the capacity of DDS-4 at a similar price point for drives and media. In addition, four lengths of VXA tape cartridges are available immediately, allowing Medweb customers to select VXA-2 cartridge capacities from 40GB to 160GB (compressed). This cartridge capacity range allows users to select a cartridge to meet their exact backup and archival needs for better management of their cost of ownership. VXA-2 also delivers full read and write compatibility with VXA-1, protecting the investment of users who have already chosen VXA technology.

The Medweb All-in-One Server, currently playing a major role in Operation Iraqi Freedom, is the only DICOM Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) Server in the market that provides a long-term archive and Web distribution system with integrated HIPAA compliance and protection against Internet security threats.
