Top Of The News - Hardware:Decru Debuts Decru DataFort Storage Security AppliancesDecru Inc, a leader in networked data storage security, recently announced that it will unveil its Decru DataFort security appliances for the first time in Europe. Attendees to the InfoSecurity Europe conference and exhibits can see live demonstrations of Decru's market-leading encryption and authentication products, designed to protect data in networked storage environments. Decru DataFort security appliances allow enterprises and government organisations to protect data assets by transparently encrypting and decrypting data at multi-gigabit speed. Providing security for data at rest in storage is an increasing concern of IT organizations in the US and in Europe, due to escalating security and privacy regulations. Penalties for non-compliance include significant fines, as well as civil and criminal prosecution. "Ensuring consumer privacy and protecting intellectual property should be a critical concern for every enterprise and government organisation," said Tony Lock, Chief Analyst, Bloor Research. "The EU directive for data privacy is one of several regulations putting pressure on enterprises to ensure consumer privacy and protection. Decru DataFort appliances can help companies build a trusted data core, protecting both customer and proprietary data held in networked storage while ensuring its accessibility by authorised individuals." The Decru DataFort storage security appliance recently received the coveted "Deploy" rating from InfoWorld after lab testing, and is the first product to provide wire-speed encryption for both NAS and SAN storage environments. Combining strong 256-bit AES encryption and authentication with hardware-based key management, Decru DataFort creates a powerful, yet manageable security solution for enterprise and government customers. The solution can be deployed transparently without changing applications or user workflow, and has been tested with a wide variety of storage and networking technologies. "When data is aggregated into networked storage, it becomes an increasingly rich target for attacks from both inside and outside an organisation. Perimeter security measures are not adequate, since the majority of attacks start from within the firewall," said Dan Avida, president and CEO of Decru. "Encryption enables an organisation to apply security directly to the data it protects, creating the strongest security available while maintaining authorised access to data resources." Decru DataFort is available in several models: The recently announced DataFort FC520 is deployed between hosts and storage in a SAN, and supports 2 GB per second encryption at the block level. The DataFort E440 is deployed between clients and a file server or NAS appliance, and supports 1GB per second full-duplex performance for both CIFS (Windows) and NFS (UNIX) environments. Additional features include:
The DataFort appliance allows enterprises to protect data in storage and in transit from unauthorised access. Decru DataFort can also reduce infrastructure spending by allowing enterprises to securely aggregate storage. With DataFort, different groups within an organization can compartmentalize aggregated data in secure Cryptainers, confident that their data is protected from unauthorised users. DataFort also enables organisations to separate security roles within their organization, and enables full data management without compromising its privacy. AvailabilityThe Decru DataFort FC520 and E440 are available immediately, priced at 35,000 EUR and 30,000 EUR, respectively. Attendees to the InfoSecurity Europe conference in London, England can see demonstrations for these products and features in Decru's stand 780.
