InterSAN Announces Full Support For IBM Storage Systems

InterSAN Inc, a leading provider of storage area management (SAM) automation software, recently announced that its PATHLINE software fully supports IBM's TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server (ESS) systems, having completed interoperability testing with the IBM Enterprise Storage Server SMIS (Storage Management Initiative Specification)-compliant application programming interface (API). PATHLINE simplifies the overall manageability of ESS arrays and reduces the total cost of SAM by centralizing and automating the management, provisioning, and reporting of all components in a networked storage environment. This announcement builds on InterSAN's established strategic storage vendor initiatives and the recent release of PATHLINE 2.5, the first and currently the only application to automate and manage all aspects of the storage services life cycle, from planning, implementation, and provisioning to monitoring.

With access to the advanced functionality of IBM's ESS API, the InterSAN PATHLINE application can now fully automate the repetitive and labor-intensive storage processes associated with the provisioning, reporting, and overall management of Enterprise Storage Server systems, thus enabling customers to reduce overall costs by improving operational efficiencies and storage utilization while delivering the highest quality of service. Additionally, the interoperability of PATHLINE and IBM's ESS enables companies to manage all of their storage resources based on application and service- level business metrics. PATHLINE's unique quality-of-service-based policy management provides the capabilities organizations need to take full advantage of the Enterprise Storage Server systems' performance, availability, and management features.
