Top Of The News - Storage:Aberdeen Report Unveils New Approach To Info AggregationWhat: A new research report that profiles technology which makes information aggregation more scalable and cost-effective by utilizing storage in the mid-tier of data architectures. Products profiled include the TigerLogic XML Data Management Server (XDMS), an operational data server -- built specifically to handle the operational data needs of Web applications. Who: Written by Aberdeen Managing vice president of Research and noted information integration and data management expert Wayne Kernochan. Why: Increased use of Web-enabled multi-tier applications has created significant demand for enterprise data access, leading IT managers to over-provision back-end systems when they really don't need to: roughly 50 percent of data requests are 'read-only,' inquiries that don't alter the records kept on the back-end in any way. The Aberdeen paper will show how mid-tier operational data servers such as Raining Data's TigerLogic XDMS can substantially reduce the need for over-provisioning back-end networking or server capacity and provide timely access to aggregated views of structured and unstructured data. When: Available now. How: Download the report at: www.aberdeen.com/ab_abstracts/2003/04/04030035.htm. All Aberdeen's free research can be found at the Aberdeen Web site. Register and then click on the 'Research' tab for more. Also, look for Raining Data's upcoming announcement of the latest version of TigerLogic XDMS.
