Top Of The News - Storage:VERITAS VISION Conference Sets Company DirectionVERITAS Software Corporation, a leading storage software provider, has announced record-breaking attendance at its sixth annual worldwide user conference, VERITAS VISION 2003. The event attracted more than 2,500 attendees, including customers and partners from 37 countries around the globe, as well as keynote speakers from VERITAS partners HP, Intel and IBM. During the conference, VERITAS unveiled its strategic direction to enable utility computing through its open software and launched VERITAS Architect Network, a free online technical community that helps IT professionals get the most out of their storage infrastructure using VERITAS products. Additionally, attendees took advantage of on-site technical storage certification through the VERITAS Certified Professional Program. Opened to end users just a few weeks ago, the new program already has nearly 800 people certified to date, 35 of those taking the examination at the VERITAS VISION 2003 conference. "This year's VISION user conference was the largest ever for VERITAS, reflecting our status as one of the fastest growing enterprise software companies," said Jeremy Burton, chief marketing officer, VERITAS Software. "With the introduction of our online storage community, VERITAS Architect Network, and on-site storage architect certifications at VISION last week, we reaffirmed our commitment to helping users be successful with VERITAS products." At the VERITAS VISION 2003 conference, VERITAS shared the stage with the industry's top leaders, including partners HP, IBM and Intel, and outlined its utility computing strategy and product roadmaps in storage management and data protection. Conference discussions examined how VERITAS delivers on the promise of utility computing today through combining its extensive storage software with recent strategic acquisitions and more than 100 supporting partners. "VERITAS has come forward with the first viable software strategy for designing, creating, and maintaining a storage utility," said Nancy Marrone, senior analyst, Enterprise Storage Group. "We are happy to say that not only has VERITAS presented a strategy that sounds and looks great on paper, but they have solutions that back up the strategy and provide a solid foundation for future offerings that will enable users to manage storage as a utility." For the first time, VERITAS combined its annual executive Partner Summit for resellers and solution providers with the VERITAS VISION conference, attracting more than twice as many attendees as last year, including 50 new platform partners. This year's Partner Pavilion showcased more than 50 companies demonstrating a broad array of innovations in storage management software solutions. Finally, in addition to numerous breakout sessions and presentations, the VERITAS VISION 2003 conference featured numerous technical training sessions, where product users exchanged opinions and ideas on technology issues with VERITAS engineers. |
