ADIC DOUBLES THROUGHPUT/CAPACITY FOR FastStor 2 AUTOLOADER

Advanced Digital Information Corporation, a leading supplier of intelligent storage solutions for the open systems market, announced recently that it has doubled the performance and storage capacity of its FastStor 2 LTO autoloader to provide relief for IT departments facing increased data growth and shrinking backup windows. The new model provides a week or more of unattended backup for a risk-free, affordable alternative to standalone tape drives, even in high data growth environments.

The new FastStor 2 is an affordable, compact autoloader that leverages second generation LTO drive technology to provide up to 30 MB/second data transfer and 200 GB storage per tape cartridge in native mode. It provides a single drive and eight data cartridges in a rack-optimized chassis that takes up only two standard rack units. FastStor 2 combines its high-density design and high-performance tape technology with an easy-to-use operator interface for easy set up and trouble-free operation.

The FastStor 2 provides 216 GB of data transfer per hour and 3.2 TB of capacity assuming normal 2:1 data compression. It measures only 3.5 inches in height and is designed to fit easily in two rack units in a standard 19-inch rack system. FastStor is backed by three full years of ADIC's next-day FastExchange service plan.

The FastStor 2 has a manufacturer's suggested list price of $10,298, and it is available from ADIC channel partners immediately.
