FUJITSU SHOWCASES ULTRASOUND IMAGE STORAGE SOLUTION AT AIUM

Fujitsu Computer Products of America Inc (FCPA), a leading provider of removable storage solutions, showcased the display and manipulation of ultrasound images on a PC in a joint demonstration with Trillium Technology Inc, a medical imaging software and consulting company, at the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine's (AIUM) World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) from June 1-4 in Montreal, Canada.

The demonstration highlighted the robust data storage and transfer capabilities of Fujitsu's 2.3GB removable storage drive with Hi-Speed USB -- the DynaMO 2300U2. The Magneto-Optical (MO) drive transfered large DICOM ultrasound video and image files to a notebook PC armed with Trillium Showcase Clinical Case Presentation Tools software for convenient "offline" viewing and editing.

Fujitsu optical storage products allow clinicians and healthcare professionals to quickly and easily transfer complex DICOM data and image files on 3.5-inch magneto-optical disks (MODs) from ultrasound machines to PCs and workstations. Trillium Technology's powerful software tools can convert DICOM images and video to popular PC file formats for use in presentations, educational materials, and journal articles.

Additionally, Fujitsu and Trillium Technology, Inc. will release a paper exemplifying the benefits of using Fujitsu's 2.3GB removable storage solution with Trillium software. The paper describes an actual implementation at the UCSD Medical Center ultrasound lab in San Diego, California.
