Top Of The News - Hardware:Vixel Announces Completion Of Its OEM Agreement With HPVixel Corporation, the leading provider of embedded storage switching technologies, announced recently that it has completed its OEM agreement for the implementation of Vixel's InSpeed Model 310 Embedded Storage Switches into HP's StorageWorks EVA (Enterprise Virtual Array) storage solutions. As was previously announced by Vixel Corporation, shipments of HP StorageWorks EVAs include InSpeed technology. These shipments have resulted in several million dollars in revenue for Vixel to date. With the completion of this OEM agreement the relationship between the two companies has been formalized. The implementation of Vixel's InSpeed Embedded Storage Switch technology in HP StorageWorks EVAs creates a "switched" back-end architecture, which offers competitive advantages over traditional shared architectures, including enhanced RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability) characteristics and linear performance growth while scaling benefits. "The completion of our OEM agreement with HP is the culmination of many months of productive collaboration, which has resulted in a strong relationship between Vixel and the world's leading provider of modular disk storage systems," said Jim McCluney, president and CEO of Vixel. "We are excited about HP's continuing success with Vixel's InSpeed Embedded Storage Switch technology in their StorageWorks EVA solutions. InSpeed has become a fieldproven technology and is out in the marketplace providing end-users with real world benefits." The HP StorageWorks EVA solution line provides customers with increased business continuance, streamlined operations and the ability to readily scale their storage environments to meet increasing demands for capacity. Vixel's InSpeed Embedded Storage Switches advance the reliability, manageability and scaling capabilities of storage architectures by enabling predictive health monitoring, reducing system latency as storage capacity increases and providing 2 Gb/s switched performance in the back-end of storage system infrastructures. |
