QUANTUM LAUNCHES PRISM XTENDED SOLUTIONS ARCHITECTURE

Quantum Corp, a leading provider of data protection systems, has announced a set of new tape automation product features, services and programs known as the Prism Xtended Solutions Architecture, that encompasses the entire customer experience -- from purchase to integration to everyday operation and long-term ownership. Prism Xtended is an evolution of Quantum's Prism Storage Architecture that provides new product features such as advanced connectivity options, services and programs to address some of customers' most critical data protection needs: management, interoperability, service options, and value.

Quantum's long-standing commitment to provide leading-edge, intelligent solutions that are flexible, simple to deploy and easy to manage is further demonstrated with the new product features, services and programs offered through Prism Xtended:

• Two Fibre Channel Connectivity Options: 1) FC470, an embedded 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel option that enables advanced performance for Storage Area Network (SAN) connectivity and 2) Xbridge, a series of external bridge options that enable the connection of a SCSI library within another network infrastructure, such as a Fibre Channel SAN. FC470 is available immediately and the first Xbridge offering will be available shortly thereafter.
• New StorageCare Services: Effective July 1, Quantum will offer IT professionals extended service options and pricing designed to meet customers' more demanding service delivery requirements. Concurrently, Quantum will initiate a comprehensive customer satisfaction program consisting of satisfaction measurements at all major customer touch-points coupled with the engagement of a third-party service delivery certification agency to audit and monitor service delivery capabilities.
• Investment Protection Program: A highly valuable tape automation trade-up program covering both full system upgrades and key system options such as connectivity and management cards. The program is available to existing Quantum customers and IT professionals using other vendor products who want to upgrade the reliability, performance, and flexibility of their backup infrastructure.
• Certified StorageCare Providers: A channel partner program enabling system integrators, VARs, and solution providers to achieve certification for providing installation, integration and maintenance on Quantum enterprise-class tape libraries.

• Smart Flexibility: Prism Xtended allows customers to "buy-as-you-grow" and "enhance-as-you-need," with modular, easy-swap and intelligent feature options. Quantum's dense network-ready tape library platforms support consolidation of heterogeneous systems and applications, supported by easy-management options such as library partitioning.
• Growth: As customers' storage requirements increase, Prism Xtended-based systems are easy to scale, with respect to installation, operation and service.
• Value: Prism Xtended-based systems provide investment protection by supporting system add-ons and upgrades as technology advances.
