CAEN ENGINEERING ANNOUNCES THE CREATION OF CaenAV

Caen Engineering Inc has announced the creation of CaenAV. CaenAV is a subsidiary of the 27 year-old storage company whose primary focus will be the high-end digital video and audio markets, specifically catering to fibre channel, SCSI and IDE RAID solutions for the SD and HD markets. Caen has been providing reliable solutions into the government and IT markets for over two decades.

"We're very excited about the creation of CaenAV," said Martin Calderwood, Caen's executive vice president. "It was a natural progression. We've been making high-end storage solutions for the defense and IT industries with a great deal of success for a very long time. With the data requirements and reliability issues now faced with SD and HD video, we felt it was a perfect opportunity to leverage our technology for the high-end video market."

CaenAV products have been designed and qualified for use with Apple Macintosh, Microsoft Windows, Unix and SGI computer platforms including support for Macintosh OS X and Windows XP.

CaenAV storage solutions are currently being qualified by a large number of leading digital video and audio application manufacturers as well as audio and video capture card manufacturers and other key industry partners. "We have a long standing reputation for quality and a strong track record of supporting our customers," Calderwood said. "These are both qualities that we are excited to bring into the video and audio markets."

CaenAV will initially sell both 1 and 2 GB Fibre Solutions as well as SCSI and Fibre-to-IDE RAID controller based solutions featuring high-end RAID controllers that have been fine tuned for the high-bandwidth requirements necessary in the digital video and audio markets.
