Features - Enterprise Data Insights:LocatePLUS SELECTS EMC CLARIION FOR TIERED NETWORKED STORAGELocatePLUS Holdings Corporation, an industry-leading provider of investigative solutions for the country's leading security agencies, announced that it has implemented EMC CLARiiON CX networked storage systems with both Fibre Channel and ATA drive technology to bring more of its information assets online. LocatePLUS selected CLARiiON for its ability to offer multiple tiers of storage in the same system, which is managed through the same storage management application. The deployment is the first phase in the company's drive to further enhance and support its investigative intelligence database. LocatePLUS has developed a unique relational database, which contains billions of public and private records and is the backbone of its online delivery of investigative solutions. The company recently deployed a 45-terabyte CLARiiON CX600 SAN to bring more records into the database to enrich the reporting capabilities and increase the robustness of its intelligence solutions. The CLARiiON systems also improve the delivery of LocatePLUS' solutions through greater information accessibility and scalability. The company can now seamlessly add more customers and build upon its multiple revenue streams as it lowers information management costs. Jon Latorella, CEO and president, LocatePLUS, said, "The country's premier investigative agencies are our customers and require real-time information access in order to respond quickly to crimes. Our customers demand that these intelligence solutions be efficient and comprehensive. Today, with our new CLARiiON-based infrastructure, we have been able to dramatically increase information accessibility and manageability to arm our customers with the most complete and concise package of intelligence information." LocatePLUS has consolidated multiple storage devices onto two CLARiiON platforms to increase the manageability of their information assets. The company is using the ATA drives to develop and test information before moving it to six terabytes of Fibre Channel drives for production activity. In addition, 39-terabytes of ATA capacity will be used to stage even more consumer information such as property, court and telephone information in an online environment, which will further the company's ability to provide a complete intelligence product to its customers. Through the consolidation of storage devices, scalability of the CLARiiON systems and EMC Navisphere software, LocatePLUS was able to centralize the management of this large environment. Latorella added, "Not only will our CLARiiON CX600 systems allow us to consolidate and centralize our information repository, but also its bandwidth capabilities will enable us to increase the number of customer contracts we can accommodate resulting in increased marketshare on a worldwide basis." LocatePLUS' customer base includes many of the country's leading agencies, such as the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) and DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration). In addition, the company provides information to over 12,000 members, which include over 2,000 law enforcement agencies, as well as many major police departments across the country. Besides the flexibility to support both ATA and Fibre Channel disk drives, the company selected CLARiiON for its leading price/performance, reliability and scalability. The new CLARiiON systems will support Dell servers running Windows 2003. LocatePLUS has also implemented EMC Connectrix switches and will be using the web-enabled Navisphere software to securely manage their CLARiiON CX600-based infrastructure. |
