Features - Financial Plays Of The Week:INTRANSA INKS AGREEMENT FOR SUPERIOR IP5000 MANUFACTURINGIntransa, a pioneer in full-featured, enterprise-class IP-based Storage Area Networks (SAN), announced that it has entered into a manufacturing and testing agreement for its IP5000 Storage System with Celestica Inc, a world leader in electronics manufacturing services (EMS). The IP5000's optimized IntraStor SAN architecture is composed of two separate components, a Storage Controller and a Disk Enclosure, that leverage the familiar IP/Ethernet network infrastructure for unprecedented scalability and availability. Celestica has agreed to provide Intransa with its innovative manufacturing and supply-chain services. Celestica will implement a customized manufacturing test process for the IP5000's Storage Controller to ensure that the high quality product is customer-ready. "As a young company, we are proud to have reached a manufacturing agreement to work with a worldwide manufacturing company with the reputation Celestica has earned," said Udi Paret, vice president of Supply-Chain and Customer Service at Intransa. "As we grow, we know we have a partner that can accommodate our global needs. The efficiency and leverage that Celestica brings translates to a superior IP-SAN product for our customers at a fraction of the cost of traditional SANs." "Intransa has introduced a simpler approach to networked storage and Celestica is excited to be involved in the new age of IP storage," said Joel Bustos, general manager at Celestica. "Our best practices in manufacturing and supply-chain processes were implemented for Intransa's unique SAN architecture and our full turnkey solution, which quickly enabled Intransa to keep its go-to-market timeline intact." IP5000 ArchitectureCelestica's manufacturing and testing expertise handled the complex Storage Controller hardware specifications with relative ease. The SC5100 is a 1U rack-mount Storage Controller with dual Controller Modules. Each module contains 2GB of cache and four GigE Copper network ports. The SC5100 also employs dual hot-swappable power supplies and redundant cooling fans. The DE5200 is a 3U rack-mount, sixteen drive Disk Enclosure with four high-performance network attached (GigE Copper) dual-port disk controllers and hot-swappable power supplies and redundant fans. ATA drives used in the DE5200 are 200GB (7200rpm) capacity providing a total of 3.2TB raw capacity per disk enclosure. Up to three DE5200s can be attached to a single SC5100, thus providing up to 10TB raw capacity. Xyratex, a global leader in storage and network infrastructure, is manufacturing the DE5200. A standard Copper Gigabit Ethernet switch interconnects the SC5100 and DE5200. The IP5000's IntraStor architecture leverages the iSCSI standard to reduce expensive interoperability concerns and complexity. |
