WINCHESTER SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES AUTOMATED "CALL HOME" SUPPORT

Winchester Systems Inc, an innovative storage solutions company, has introduced a new "call home" alert service that detects failures of their FlashDisk RAID disk arrays, called "FlashAlert". FlashAlert is a proactive remote monitoring and failure alert service that will detect a potential problem with an array and immediately and automatically notify the call center staffed 24 hours per day for immediate corrective action.

Used in conjunction with the company's FlashConsole storage management appliance, FlashAlert is part of a high availability storage solution that protects a corporate enterprise from loss of productivity due to a component failure. E-mail messages are sent through a standard e-mail server to a designated e-mail address. The problem is quickly diagnosed and a corrective action plan is put in motion automatically, saving system administrators valuable time for other production tasks.
