HIGH-DENSITY SUBSYSTEM PACKS 16 ULTRA160 SCSI DRIVES INTO 3U

Dynamic Network Factory, an innovative provider of affordable RAID and Network-Attached Storage (NAS) solutions, has announced the TASKMASTER 16000 RAID 3U Rackmount. Purpose-built for high volume, fail-safe data storage applications, the TASKMASTER 16000 RAID sets new standards in its class. It features a backplane design for sixteen hot-swappable disk drives, N+1 load sharing power supplies with PFC, pure aluminum case and components, and specially designed airflow passages.

TASKMASTER 16000 RAID is equipped with an Ultra160 SCSI RAID controller to offer fault-tolerant data protection. It is 100% transparent to the host operating system and requires no custom drivers. The full featured data protection subsystem supports RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, 3, 5, and JBOD. It is the ideal storage solution for applications requiring high data throughput, availability, and flexibility in configuration, as up to two TASKMASTER 16000 JBOD subsystems can be attached for a total capacity of 6.5 Terabytes with a footprint of only 9U.

An environmental monitoring unit (EMU) enhances TASKMASTER 16000 RAID system reliability. The EMU monitors the internal environment of the disk enclosure such as power supplies, temperature, voltage and cooling fans. It not only tracks the enclosure temperature, but also monitors individual disk temperatures as well. If any irregularity in these systems occurs, the EMU alerts the administrator with an audible alarm, by fax and pager.

All major components including drives, power supplies and fans are redundant and removable for easy serviceability. The TASKMASTER 16000 RAID features an easy-to-read menu-driven LCD display of array/drive status and array configuration commands. It comes with fault and activity LEDs, Up, Select, Down and Exit buttons for easy operation.

TASKMASTER 16000 RAID subsystems come with 16 hot-swappable drive trays for accommodating 1" Ultra160/320 SCSI drives. Reliability is insured with load sharing hot swappable triple redundant (N+1) 300 Watt power supplies with PFC. The TASKMASTER 16000 RAID's scalable design makes expansion easy when storage needs increase. It is the ideal storage solution for applications requiring high data throughput, availability, and flexibility in configuration.
