COGNOS SIGNS DEAL WITH StorageTek

Cognos, a world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management, announced that they have signed a transaction with StorageTek under which Cognos will provide software for business intelligence. The deal was closed in Cognos' second quarter. StorageTek selected Cognos for this deal in a competitive situation against several other vendors.

StorageTek managers and analysts will use Cognos' reporting and analysis solutions to improve analysis of critical customer service, equipment, financial, supply chain, and pipeline data. Additionally, senior executives can gain understanding of business performance trends, issues, and opportunities through Cognos-powered dashboards.

"Access to the most accurate and up-to-date data is essential to being able to understand the performance of all divisions on a global stage," said Bobby Kocol, StorageTek chief financial officer. "With Cognos, employees will have a new tool to analyze data and business processes to identify problem areas and opportunities and, ultimately, to help make better business decisions. StorageTek's executive team will leverage Cognos to monitor and analyze key metrics to better understand corporate performance."
