WINCHESTER SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES "Pay-As-You-Grow" SCALABILITY

Winchester Systems Inc, an innovative storage solutions company, has introduced a new robust, high performance storage solution called FlashDisk OpenSAN. This new generation of two Gigabit "end-to-end" Fibre Channel product is designed for midrange to enterprise storage environments requiring extremely high performance, scalability and leading-edge connectivity.

"FlashDisk OpenSAN uses our advanced seventh generation architecture with a modular design that provides virtual 'SAN-In-A-Box' capability and 'pay-as-you-grow' scalability," stated Jerry Namery, president. "As additional servers or higher storage capacity becomes necessary with the growth of a customer's business, OpenSAN can be upgraded and configured easily in the field without downtime, simply by adding a few key modular components. It's no longer necessary to buy more storage or host connectivity than you need. Simply start small and "pay-as-you-grow."

FlashDisk OpenSAN is available in two models: the FX-400, 8-port configuration and the FX-600, 12-port--both designed for exceptional high performance and continuous data availability. FlashDisk OpenSAN supports switched fabric, point-to-point and loop topologies and is compatible with any server or operating system with no host software. With dual redundant and hot-swappable components, including controllers, disk drives, I/O modules, power supplies, fans, AC power and LAN ports, OpenSAN is designed with no single point of failure.

Capacity

Typically configured from one to ten terabytes, the FX-400 supports up to 112 disk drives providing 16 terabytes of storage, while the FX-600 scales to 32 terabytes with 224 disk drives. The FX-400 is easily field upgradable to the FX-600.

Performance

OpenSAN delivers an impressive 160,000 I/Os per second and 1,400 MB/second thruput, making it ideal for database, OLTP, manufacturing, multimedia, financial, imaging, prepress, e-mail, Web server and other disk intensive tasks.

Storage Management

Included with every OpenSAN solution is the FlashConsole centralized management appliance, providing complete centralized management using any browser-based workstation on the LAN. Also included for one year is FlashAlert, a 24-hour "call-home" remote monitoring and alert service.

Price and Delivery

Pricing for OpenSAN FX-400 starts at $21,900 and pricing for the FX-600 starts at $24,500. Delivery is 2-3 weeks.
