Features - Financial Plays Of The Week:MAXTOR ENHANCES RESELLER MARKETING PROGRAMSMaxtor Corporation , a worldwide leader in hard disk drives, announced that it has enhanced its channel program offerings with new tools and services designed to help resellers, system integrators and builders stay competitive and address new storage markets. Additions to the Maxtor VIP Partner Program include: a limited "Test Drive" demo program; a new Maxtor MaxMart online fulfillment center; and an online, interactive training program. "Maxtor's goal is to drive value into the channel by providing innovative tools, expanded resources and online programs to help our resellers succeed," said Rachel Forke, director of channel marketing at Maxtor. "Resellers work in one of the most competitive segments of the IT industry, so we've designed our entire channel program to help them develop and support a loyal, growing customer base. We value this community as they are critical in helping us to expand our brand in the small business, vertical and emerging market segments." Today, resellers must offer their customers a variety of hard drive solutions to meet their customers' application needs and budgets -- whether it's a DiamondMax desktop ATA drive, an Atlas SCSI drive for an online server, a MaXLine Serial ATA drive for near-line fixed content storage or a Maxtor Personal Storage 5000 external drive with the Maxtor OneTouch button. With this in mind, Maxtor launched the Maxtor VIP Test Drive Program that is designed to let resellers integrate, test and benchmark Maxtor's latest hard drive products to match their customer's desired applications. Through the Test Drive program, participating U.S. resellers can purchase select products at a discounted price for in-store or onsite demonstrations, benchmark testing or for customer evaluations. Available today are a variety of Maxtor Atlas SCSI hard drives, Maxtor DiamondMax hard drives, and the Maxtor Personal Storage 5000 external drive with the Maxtor OneTouch button. Maxtor's MaxMart is another service, which offers a convenient, online fulfillment center where resellers can procure needed marketing/sales materials, collateral and promotional items. Items on the site include Maxtor logo banners, apparel, accessories, product launch kits and data sheets, which can be used as leave behinds at tradeshows or for sales programs. The online training program is designed for resellers around the globe to not only gain knowledge about Maxtor hard drives, but to better position them in a range of storage applications. Created with a "spy" theme, there will be 10 online sessions offered from now until the end of 2003. The first program, available today, covers the Atlas family of SCSI drives ideal for mission-critical transactional applications. A new training program will follow each month focusing on Serial ATA, Maxtor MaXLine drives for near-line and fixed content applications, and upcoming new products and/or industry topics. Each session is interactive and highlights the product or technology's features and ideal applications for better positioning and revenue opportunities in the market. Later this summer, the training programs will be available in French, German, Spanish and Portuguese.
