Features - Financial Plays Of The Week:STORServer SIGNS OEM AGREEMENT WITH MICROSOFTSTORServer announced they have entered into an OEM Agreement with Microsoft Corporation. Under the terms of the agreement, STORServer will implement Microsoft's Windows Storage Server 2003 -- its newest dedicated file server and NAS operating system -- for future STORServer Backup Appliances. "STORServer will provide our customers with Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003, integrated with backup and disaster recovery software, in future STORServer Backup Appliances," says John Pearring, president of STORServer. "Microsoft is the preferred platform for our Backup Appliances due to the solution's state of the art technologies." "STORServer's signature Backup Appliances running on the Windows platform will provide all-in-one data protection solution," said Phillip Swan, vice president of DSS OEM sales at Microsoft. "Microsoft's Windows Storage Server 2003 will enable STORServer to quickly build and deliver new Backup Appliances using the latest Windows Server technology to customers." STORServer is expected to launch its line of Powered by Windows Backup Appliances in September. STORServer Backup Appliances come in a variety of different models and sizes -- all designed to simplify data protection into an all-in-one storage, archive and disaster recovery product. STORServer Backup Appliances back up any LAN, SAN and NAS-attached client that utilizes directly attached storage.
