LSI Logic Storage Systems SMI-S Provider Put To Test

LSI Logic Storage Systems, a leading supporter of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Storage Management Initiative (SMI), featured its SMI-S Provider in a standards-based plugfest during the week of August 18.

The plugfest gave participating companies the ability to examine and enhance mutual offerings for customers prior to the public debut of SNIA's SMI-Lab3 in October. The SMI-Lab3, established by the SNIA Storage Management Forum (SMF), featured the success and progress to date with the SMI, promoting the adoption of a highly functional open interface for the management of storage networks. A reference implementation of network storage and management products, the SMI-Lab3 uses SMI-S as the interface to simplify the complexity of managing storage.
