Fujitsu's PRIMEPOWER 2500 Sets TPC-H World Record Benchmark

Fujitsu Technology Solutions Inc, a member of the worldwide group of Fujitsu companies, announced a record-breaking data warehousing benchmark result for its Solaris compatible SPARC based PRIMEPOWER 2500 server running 64 SPARC64 V processors. Fujitsu achieved a TPC-H benchmark of 34,345.4QphH @3000GB, setting another world record in industry-leading standards. The Oracle Database was the scalable and performant data warehouse environment. Highest IO-throughput were enabled through the Emulex LP9802 PCI-X Fibre Channel host bus adapters. The close technology collaboration between Oracle and Emulex made this benchmark record possible, proving that the PRIMEPOWER 2500 clearly demonstrates superior performance and outstanding capability running mission-critical applications, making it the best choice for users of large data warehouses.

The PRIMEPOWER 2500 outperformed the next best single server, the Sun Fire 15K, by 33 percent per CPU. The benchmark was performed on a 64-way 1.3 GHz SPARC64 V processor-based PRIMEPOWER 2500 with 256GB of memory, running the Solaris 9 Operating Environment (OE). The server also utilized 64 FibreCAT S80 disk arrays with 800 disks in total.

The PRIMEPOWER 2500 enterprise server provides substantial headroom. It scales up to 128 processors without any hardware restrictions.
