LSI ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE FOR FIBRE CHANNEL, SAS

A software tool announced by LSI Logic Corp will enable medium and small businesses to manage storage installations deployed with its Fibre Channel or Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology. Called "MyStorage," the new software tool incorporates software, drivers and firmware to allow users to more easily manage and remotely configure LSI Logic host bus adapters (HBAs). The product is being demonstrated at the Storage Networking World conference in Orlando this week, and will begin shipping free with LSI Logic HBAs early in 2004.

"We're releasing a five-minute, up-and-running solution. Many businesses hesitate to use Fibre Channel technology because of the cost of Fibre Channel hardware and perceived complexity of the network management," said Charlie Kraus, director of HBA marketing for LSI Logic Storage Standard Products Division. "With MyStorage, customers will have an integrated, software tool that simplifies set-up and network management. MyStorage will allow for management of all the adapters in a network from one place while delivering advanced features including remote management, multi-path management such as failover and load balancing, device persistence and end-to-end diagnostics."

MyStorage software is designed to simplify SAN management and reduce SAN installation time. By using a highly-automated management tool, IT managers can control and configure any LSI Logic HBAs in their SAN network in just a few mouse clicks. Both Windows and Linux operating systems are supported.

MyStorage is configured out-of-the-box with a solution that can easily be used in the large majority of instances. An expert-mode is provided for custom applications. The software also complements third-party SAN management software and meets the requirements of more complex, enterprise-level applications. MyStorage software is SNIA API V2.0 compliant ensuring interoperability within the SAN environment.
