LightSand LAUNCHES STORAGE GATEWAY FOR TRANSPORTING FC

LightSand, a leading provider of storage connectivity products, announced the immediate availability of the S-155B Storage Gateway. This new gateway enables organizations to interconnect Fibre Channel storage systems over existing fiber optic infrastructure across town or cross-country.

"Organizations of all sizes are recognizing the need to establish effective business continuity and disaster recovery programs," said LightSand CEO Philip Black. "We developed the S-155B to enable organizations with smaller bandwidth requirements to implement cost-effective, high-performance solutions for these critical functions. Our new gateway operates over SONET OC-3c or SDH STM-1c circuits, providing guaranteed performance and minimal, predictable latency."

The LightSand S-155B Storage Gateway has one local Fibre Channel data port and one local IP/GbE data port. The S-155B combines these signals for reliable transport via its long-haul SONET/SDH port. This port can be directly connected to a SONET OC-3c/SDH STM-1c network to provide wire-speed transport of FC and IP data at distance up to 32,000 km. The S-155B can also be used in conjunction with designated third party equipment to transport these local data protocols over DWDM circuits. When combined with a LightSand i-7100F, the S-155B can provide long distance transportation of FICON data across high performance SONET networks.
