BakBone TO SHOWCASE INNOVATIVE DATA BACKUP SCENARIOS
BakBone Software, a global provider of data protection solutions, announced
that it will showcase a variety of different data backup scenarios at CeBIT
2004, the world's leading event for the Information Technology sector, held
March 18-24 in Hanover, Germany. BakBone's flagship backup and recovery
software solution, NetVault 7, is helping companies meet current and future
data protection needs through its highly flexible, modular architecture that
delivers proven reliability and high performance.
As BakBone continues to build on its position as one of the fastest growing
companies in the storage management software market, BakBone's CEO, Keith
Rickard, will be present at this year's show for press and analyst interviews.
Rickard will be available to discuss a number of topics including the
Company's strong revenue growth, technology leadership, and its continued
traction with OEM partners, resellers and solution providers, as well as
recent customer wins such as Yahoo! and the NASA/Mars Project.
The innovative scenarios to be showcased include:
- Disk-to-Disk backup -- Using NetVault's Virtual Disk Library (VDL)
feature,
data backups can easily be sent directly to a local hard drive or SAN attached
disk subsystem for improved performance during backup and recovery. VDL
staging can minimize the impact on the network and act as a buffer to ensure
device streaming when it's time to copy staged data to tape.
- NDMP backups -- NetVault offers the most comprehensive support for
NDMP-based networks with modules for NDMP backups, SnapMirror to Tape,
SnapShot Manager and SnapVault.
- Linux backups -- NetVault supports more leading Linux distributions
than
any other backup software vendor. In 2003, BakBone announced the Linux
Advantage initiative, a program that gives end-users the assurance that there
is no compromise in their data protection strategies when deploying
mission-critical applications on Linux. Partners include the industry's
leading Linux distributors such as Red Hat and SuSE and enterprise application
vendors, OEMs, and solution providers such as HP, Intel, Network Appliance,
Oracle, SGI, Sony, StorageTek, Fujitsu and Breece Hill.
- Windows/Exchange 2003 cluster backups -- In addition to an extensive
list
of applications and operating systems, BakBone now offers support for Exchange
2003 clusters. Using the cluster's real IP address, NetVault can back up each
node with a NetVault client. This capability adds a further level of data
protection to customers who have invested in clustered environments.
