LSI SHIPPING FIRST Ultra320 SCSI TARGET MODE CONTROLLER

LSI Logic Corp announced that it is now shipping full production volumes of its LSI53C1030T Ultra320 SCSI controller. The new product is configured as a high-performance, target mode PCI-X to dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI solution using the Fusion-MPT (Message Passing Technology) architecture. Astek Corp, a Colorado Springs, Colo., independent engineering and design center that supported the product release, has assisted LSI Logic in early prototyping and logic design.

"Once again, by leveraging our unique Ultra320 SCSI experience and market share leadership, we can deliver a reliable technology solution and an outstanding product to those customers that require full target mode operation."

The LSI53C1030T is designed for high performance target mode applications such as cache coherency clusters, bridge controllers and the front-end of RAID subsystems, and is optimized to ensure high-speed target mode performance. The Fusion-MPT-based controller also offers binary compatibility of host software with LSI Logic Fibre Channel technology. In addition to two channels of Ultra320 SCSI for maximum bandwidth in both initiator and target mode of 640 MB per second, the LSI53C1030T features a 133 MHz, 64-bit PCI-X.
