DELL INTROS BROAD RANGE OF POWEREDGE SERVERS

Dell has significantly increased the performance, management and expansion capabilities of its PowerEdge line of servers with dual-processor PowerEdge 1800, 1850, 2800 and 2850 servers.

This broad range of rack-mount and tower servers integrates the latest technologies and standards to improve performance and reduce complexity, plus offers the flexibility to address either 32-bit or 64-bit applications with the latest Intel Xeon processors with Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T).

Dell OpenManage 4 systems management software now has significant new capabilities and uses industry-standard IPMI baseboard management controllers in the server to improve and standardize remote management.

The PowerEdge 1850, 2800 and 2850 platforms offer the following features:

  • Dual Intel Xeon EM64T processors.

  • Up to 8GB of DDR2 memory (up to 16GB memory when future memory modules become available).

  • PCI Express.

  • 800MHz Front Side Bus.

  • Memory mirroring and redundant Gigabit network interface cards.

  • Support for clustering as well as deployment in storage area networks (SAN).

  • Common drivers and BIOS for image stability and consistency.

  • Integrated IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) 1.5 baseboard management controllers.

  • Available with optional Dell Remote Access Card 4 (DRAC 4) with continuous video access, Microsoft Active Directory Integration and virtual CD/floppy drives.

  • Common SCSI hard drive carriers and tool-less chassis.
