NAT'L RESEARCH SHOWS GROWTH IN SECURE STORAGE OVER NEXT YEAR

Vormetric Inc, a provider of security solutions for protecting sensitive enterprise information, announced research from TheInfoPro (TIP) that demonstrates growing interest and intent to deploy Secure Storage Solutions during the next 12-month period. The independent data shows not only that executives are planning to rapidly adopt this technology, but also that Vormetric is viewed as the preferred specialized vendor solving this increasingly critical business issue.

"Based on TIP's in-depth interviews with nearly 450 security and storage professionals, Vormetric emerged as one of the clear leaders in SAN/NAS Stored Data Encryption," said David Taylor, chief research officer of TheInfoPro. "Vormetric rated second behind EMC but ahead of all other vendors that offer solutions in the secure storage segment. According to TIP's database of direct customer quotes, Vormetric's customers selected them primarily based on their performance, particularly the speed of their encryption. Customer installations and new projects in this area have increased steadily over the semi-annual studies conducted by TheInfoPro."

The research is part of a bi-annual study conducted by TIP on various hot topics associated with the storage and security industries. The findings clearly demonstrate the growing intersection of these sectors, as government regulations such as GLBA, HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley require enterprises to improve the protection of confidential customer and financial information, and other intellectual property. Illustrative of this point, the survey found that "Audits & Regulatory Compliance" was the leading business driver or pain point, cited by 45 percent of the respondents, driving security projects and spending. The TIP research also identified industries that are the most sensitive to the need to protect stored information, including financial services, high tech and healthcare, as well as the federal government.

"The feedback we have received from customers and prospects has always stressed the importance of protecting sensitive information for compliance, privacy, fiduciary and competitive reasons," said Bill Schroeder, CEO of Vormetric. "Our ability to address all of these motivating forces with a single, integrated solution that is extensible across the enterprise -- both server side and client side -- is a key reason, we believe, for our favorable ranking in the TIP research results."

As TheInfoPro conducts these studies regularly, they are able to evaluate trends and emerging spaces over time. The convergence between storage and security now emerging in TheInfoPro research highlights a new, high-growth area for the IT industry. TheInfoPro compiles its data through a semi-annual series of one-on-one, hour-long interviews where researchers gather both quantitative and qualitative data to ensure they get the full perspective on today's emerging IT needs.
