Features - Storage Innovations:RARITAN ADDS PRODUCTS TO REMOTELY MANAGE IT EQUIPMENT OVER IPRaritan Computer Inc, a supplier of KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switches and remote server and IT infrastructure management solutions, announced worldwide availability of a number of new solutions designed to help small and mediumsized businesses (SMBs) remotely access and manage servers from anywhere using the Internet. These offerings include IP (Internet Protocol)-enabled KVM switches and Remote IP access devices that add Internet connectivity to existing analog KVM switches. Raritan's sales channels will also offer a KVMover -IP remote management PCI card, called the eRIC II. The new offerings expand Raritan's portfolio and come as a result of their acquisition of Peppercon AG in April. Raritan will offer worldwide the Peppercon 0801IP and 1601IP KVM switches, which support eight and 16 servers, respectively. These products allow multiple servers to be controlled locally or remotely via a Web browser. Also available to the SMB market is Peppercon's LARA eco -- one of the world's smallest KVM-over-IP devices -- that enables a company to add cost- effective remote Internet access capabilities to existing analog KVM switches. LARA eco complements Raritan's other KVM-over-IP access products including: the IP-Reach M-Series and the TeleReach TR361, TR362 and TR364 products, which are designed for enterprise-class deployments. In April, Raritan Computer bolstered its remote server management leadership position inside and outside the data center by acquiring Peppercon, a German company that develops and manufactures advanced, hardware-based, remote management products based on leading edge KVM-over-IP technology -- including embedded remote management boards, KVM IP extenders, and digital KVM-over-IP switches. Raritan will continue to sell Peppercon products worldwide, and the Peppercon business unit will increase its focus on OEM and embedded remote management products. KVM-over-IP technology is designed to securely capture a server's keyboard, monitor and mouse signals, convert the signals to digital packets, and compress and encrypt (up to 256-bit SSL encryption) them for secure, lowbandwidth transmission over TCP/IP. Companies can easily deploy any combination of Raritan's expanded portfolio of compatible, plug-and-play, digital and analog solutions in order to meet their specific infrastructure and scalability needs. Raritan's solutions are designed to meet today's most critical IT requirements, including performance, security, support for a wide range of remote IT equipment, and support for multiple users who need server access no matter where they are located. |
