StorCase INTRODUCES REMOVABLE DISK-TO-DISK BACKUP SOLUTIONS

StorCase Technology announced it is shipping two new products dedicated to disk-to-disk (D2D) backup applications. Industry-proven StorCase Data Express DE50 and DE110 Parallel ATA (PATA) removable drive enclosures now support USB 2.0 host connections and include Dantz' Retrospect backup software.

D2D backup solutions are rapidly becoming a preferred alternative to traditional tape backup. Compared to tape, the D2D backup technology offers higher transfer speeds, (performance improvements as high as 200 percent); lower costs (savings up to 50 percent over comparable tape solutions); greater ease of use and 100 percent accuracy for restored data.

"Data Express disk-to-disk backup solutions are designed specifically with unique features intended for small to medium-sized companies who are considering an alternative to the limitations and hassles associated with tape backup technology," said Diane Noneman, manager of product development at StorCase Technology. "Our DE110 for 3.5-inch drives is a very cost-effective solution, and as 2.5-inch drives begin to inevitably replace 3.5-inch drives, our compact DE50 will become an excellent longer-term backup solution."

The Data Express backup solution is the first on the market to support an internal USB connection, providing the capability of performing D2D backup with new or existing server equipment. Each Data Express DE50 supports any 2.5-inch Ultra ATA/100 drive, each DE110 supports any 3.5-inch Ultra ATA/133 drive, and both units provide an internal USB 2.0 host interface.
