WINCHESTER UNVEILS NEW MID-RANGE TIERED STORAGE ARRAY

Winchester Systems Inc introduced a new data storage array capable of supporting up to four Fibre Channel hosts and 43TB of primary and secondary storage. Geared towards the mid-range storage environment, the FlashDisk FC- 3400 is a fully redundant storage system that supports both Fibre Channel and Serial ATA disk technology.

"Having the ability to intermix Fibre Channel and SATA disks that are managed by the same redundant controller pair gives our customers the ability to offer different levels of service within a single system. This means they can have their primary business applications and their secondary storage applications such as archiving quickly accessible and managed by a single system," stated Jan Sutton, product marketing manager at Winchester Systems. "The IT manager now also has the flexibility to offer different storage service levels that are optimized based either on performance and/or capacity. Customers no longer have to purchase separate disparate systems in order to meet their requirements. The FlashDisk FC-3400 dramatically reduces the cost of storage and eliminates the complexity in managing it."

FlashDisk FC-3400 supports single or dual redundant 64-bit RAID controllers for maximum data availability and protection. FlashDisk's capacity is well suited to database, OLTP, manufacturing, multimedia, financial, imaging, e-mail, and other disk intensive tasks. It is compatible with any server or operating system and has no requirement for host software drivers. With hot-swappable components, including controllers, disk drives, power supplies, fans, and AC power inlets, FlashDisk offers a robust design to meet mid-range as well as enterprise class data storage requirements.
