San Jose, Calif. -- Siemens Pyramid Information Systems, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens Nixdorf Information Systems, Inc., has announced a marketing agreement with data mining software provider HYPERparallel, Inc. to provide corporations in the financial services, retail and telecommunications industries with massively scalable data mining applications for customer relationship marketing.

HYPERparallel's // Discovery Server 2.0 (pronounced Parallel Discovery Server) for the Reliant Cluster Server from Siemens Pyramid enables corporations to search massive volumes of data to obtain meaningful information about the preferences and tendencies of current and potential customers. While various companies already offer data mining applications, the strength of the Siemens Pyramid/HYPERparallel solution comes from the application's ability to harness the highly scalable and flexible parallel processing technology of the Reliant Cluster Server to mine massive amounts of data involving hundreds of variables while delivering customer knowledge directly to the business user.

With //Discovery Server 2.0 for the Reliant Cluster Server, HYPERparallel will offer its industry- and problem-specific methodologies called //Solution Frameworks. These pre-built frameworks decrease development time, increase information accessibility to non-technical business users, and feature targeted applications such as "customer loyalty" for retail, "customer retention" for banks, and "customer win-back" for telecommunications providers.

"Many forward-thinking companies are re-evaluating the means with which they target and attract new business. In addition to looking outside their customer base in order to grow market share, many companies are choosing to develop closer, more profitable relationships with their current customers, " said Bill Nowacki, HYPERparallel's vice president of marketing.

"By teaming our technology with the Siemens Pyramid Reliant Cluster Server, we offer a complete data mining solution designed specifically to leverage the server's strengths in performance, reliability and flexibility, " Nowacki added.

HYPERparallel's data mining engines utilize a variety of algorithms including //Affinity, //Sequence, //Induction and //Cluster. This broad range of available algorithms enables //Discovery Server for Reliant Cluster Server to solve a wide range of highly complex problems. Utilizing Siemens Pyramid's Reliant UNIX(R) operating system, the Reliant Cluster Server fully integrates symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) and massively parallel processing (MPP) nodes in a cluster under a single operating system.

"Companies that take advantage of their vast array of customer information for customized marketing campaigns will have a distinct advantage in fostering close customer relationships," said James Guilmart, vice president of worldwide relationships, US software partners for Siemens Nixdorf. "Our joint offering with HYPERparallel is the industry's first solution combining hardware, software and services to help companies truly understand their individual customers."

Release 2.0 of HYPERparallel's //Discovery Server running on the Reliant Cluster Server is available immediately. Siemens Pyramid and HYPERparallel will showcase their data mining technology at the upcoming DCI Data Warehousing Conference in Phoenix, AZ on October 8. For more information on this joint solution or a low-cost (estimated at $30,000 to $100,000) proof-of-concept which includes hardware, software and consulting, please call Siemens Pyramid at 800-289-7973.
