Rogue Wave Software has announced that SAS Institute has licensed Tools.h++ and the Rogue Wave implementation of the Standard C++ Library. SAS Institute joins other industry leaders who have licensed Tools.h++ and/or the Standard C++ Library from Rogue Wave, including Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems, Digital Equipment Corporation, SGI, Borland International, Siemens-Nixdorf and Tandem Computers.

SAS Institute develops, markets, and supports data warehousing and decision-support software, as well as a mainframe C/C++ compiler. The company plans to redistribute Rogue Wave's Tools.h++ and Standard C++ Library products together as an extension to its SAS/C C++ Development System, which enables C++ programs to be developed on the mainframe, UNIX, or Windows and run under MVS (including OS/390), TSO, or CMS.

"This agreement will bring proven, industry-standard class and template libraries to our SAS/C C++ customers," said Pat Graham, Manager of SAS/C Compiler R&D. "In order to support both a native and cross-platform environment for template users, our obvious choice was to license Rogue Wave's libraries to extend the capabilities of our SAS/C C++ Development System."

Tools.h++ is an internationalized class library that provides the basic building blocks for most C++ applications, including collections, strings, streaming classes, and an easier-to-use interface to the Standard C++ Library. Rogue Wave's conforming implementation of the Standard C++ Library is widely used and includes updated data structures and algorithms from the Standard Template Library (STL), plus classes for localization, input and output of data, strings, numerics, and language support.

"We're very pleased that SAS Institute has chosen to provide Rogue Wave's foundation-level libraries to programmers using the SAS/C C++ Development System." said Michael J. Scally, president of Rogue Wave. "SAS Institute is a recognized leader in the IBM 370 C/C++ compiler market and we welcome the opportunity to extend our relationship with them."

Rogue Wave Software is a supplier of class libraries and software components for developers building cross-platform applications that run in the UNIX, Windows, Java and OS/2 environments. Founded in 1989, the company shipped the first commercially available library for the C++ programming language the same year, and the first visual builder for the Java development language in February, 1996. Rogue Wave has headquarters in Corvallis, OR. For more information, see http://www.roguewave.com/

SAS Institute is headquartered in Cary, North Carolina.
