ACTION ITEMS

Oracle Corporation and Information Discovery, Inc. have announced an expansion of their partnership to deliver joint data mining products and services within Oracle's Warehouse Technology Initiative. As part of this cooperation, enhancements will be made to the SQL engine in ORACLE8.1 and future releases to better support Information Discovery's software.

Oracle created the partnership to ensure their customers are offered the market's best data mining solutions. Information Discovery was selected as an Oracle partner based on its leadership, scalability of application, architecture, industry focus and innovative product offering. Information Discovery's unique data mining technology accesses large volumes of data both as granular transactions and multi-dimensional data, and directly works server-side on SQL databases. The knowledge access technologies of Information Discovery allow business users to reach for pre-mined patterns stored in a PatternWarehouse.

"Oracle believes data mining adds unique value in data warehousing and decision support systems. That is why we are entering into partnership to ensure that data mining is a key element of Oracle Data Warehousing Solutions and available to customers as an incorporated part of our leading database platform," said Mr. J. Mirani, director of product marketing, Data Warehousing Solutions at Oracle. "We are delivering the power of data mining to a multitude of corporate heroes, and now with the power of Oracle, business users have immediate access to pre-mined crown jewels of information within their databases," said Dr. Kamran Parsaye, CEO of Information Discovery, Inc.

The Data Mining Suite is an integrated set of products that provide a powerful, complete and comprehensive solution for large-scale enterprise-wide decision support and data mining. The Knowledge Access Suite has delivered the first and only set of products ever to provide business users with a gateway to knowledge that has been pre-distilled from data and is stored in a pattern-base.
