Red Brick Systems, Inc. has announced the availability of Red Brick Data Mine on Compaq Computer Corporation's AlphaServer platforms running Compaq's 64-bit Digital UNIX and Microsoft Windows NT. Red Brick Data Mine, a component of Red Brick DecisionScape, is Red Brick's server-integrated data mining solution designed to help information systems staff and business analysts predict and understand the impact of decisions on their customers, businesses and markets.
Compaq's family of 64-bit AlphaServer systems, based on the performance and scalability of the industry's fastest processors, take advantage of very large memory (VLM) capacity to deliver high-performance solutions for data warehousing, data marts, data mining and other enterprise applications.
"A large number of our customers have chosen Compaq and Red Brick for a data warehousing solution designed to support high availability and very large data throughput, which helps them make quick, accurate business decisions on a daily basis," said Phil Fernandez, senior vice president of Products and Services at Red Brick. "Red Brick Data Mine brings another dimension to their analysis environment. We're very pleased to support a broad spectrum of robust data analysis solutions for Compaq customers."
"Red Brick customers have chosen Red Brick Warehouse on AlphaServer systems for lightning-fast access to huge amounts of data from diverse databases across the enterprise," said Jeffrey Johanson, director, Business Applications Group at Compaq. "This powerful, flexible solution, in conjunction with Red Brick Data Mine, provides the ability to react quickly and accurately to competitive pressures and internal business needs."
Red Brick Data Mine is high-performance data mining software that is fully integrated in the Red Brick Warehouse RDBMS engine. This leading server-based data mining software is specifically designed to read very large volumes of data -- hundreds of millions of rows and hundreds of attributes -- through state-of-the-art functionality. Red Brick Data Mine is designed to find patterns, trends and relationships which would be difficult, if not impossible, to find with assumptive querying techniques or traditional client-based data mining tools.
Red Brick customers and partners using Red Brick Data Mine can generate analytic applications which are designed to quickly deliver high business value and return on investment. Compaq was the first to deliver and is today a leading provider of complete 64-bit solutions to meet the needs of any enterprise. AlphaServer systems are ideal for such complex, demanding applications as data mining, which requires extremely fast processing on very large databases. The AlphaServer platform can run at speeds up to 625 MHz.
AlphaServer systems are available in configurations ranging from single-processor entry-level systems to mainframe-class servers that leverage the power and scalability of up to 14 processors and 28 GB of memory. All AlphaServer systems offer a choice of Digital UNIX or OpenVMS, can also run Windows NT, and can be clustered in any combination for added performance and ultra-high availability.
Red Brick Data Mine on Compaq's AlphaServer systems requires Red Brick Warehouse 5.1 and is available now. Red Brick Data Mine is also available on HP-UX, IBM AIX, Silicon Graphics IRIX, Sun Solaris and Windows NT (Intel) platforms. The product may be licensed directly from Red Brick, or through Red Brick's channel partners worldwide. Information about Red Brick is available on the World Wide Web at http://www.redbrick.com
