MIS AG Announces Software that Automates
and Enhances Business-Intelligence Methods
ACTION ITEMS
The German software-solutions company MIS AG has announced its award-winning MIS DeltaMiner, a business-research tool using state-of-the-art data-mining technology and integrated business-intelligence methodologies. Imitating human investigative techniques, MIS DeltaMiner explains deviations, detects compensations, and significantly simplifies the navigation of OLAP databases.
Ideal for controllers, business analysts and managers -- whose jobs require them to sort through reams of multidimensional data -- MIS DeltaMiner assumes the role of an OLAP guide, automatically suggesting an optimal navigation path and explaining exceptions. Not only does this automation save a lot of time, but it uses the human expert's skills more effectively as well. By preexamining data on its own, DeltaMiner provides analysts with only the most noteworthy deviations.
Once identified, exceptions can be rapidly explored in the simple and familiar drill-down mode. This allows the analyst to identify exception-causing issues no matter what the navigation path. Perhaps most importantly, the automation of these functions allows the analyst to take his or her qualitative explorations of the data to a new, deeper level.
Such intuitive research results from the combination of various analysis techniques into an analysis chain. In MIS DeltaMiner, all analysis and search techniques can be linked so that even the most complex chains can be built with a few simple mouse clicks. And analysis assistants, known as Delta Wizards, make MIS DeltaMiner simple to use. From the very first day, users are guided through even the most complex analyses by a series of simple questions.
When graphic representation of the research is required, MIS DeltaMiner can provide a wide variety of formats and customized reports. It even has a traffic-lighting function to color code and highlight user-designated data classes.
Lauren Robinette of Hewlett Packard who currently has three analysts using MIS DeltaMiner and plans to expand its use says, "It allows us to take disparate pieces of information and correlate that information so that we can measure programs against resulting sales. It also allows us to drill into different aspects of the database: 'What is the effect of different sales programs, geographies and other different features in the database?' MIS DeltaMiner lets you pinpoint problems and uncover whether they are product problems, geography problems, or something else."
A brief look at some of DeltaMiner's technical capabilities:
Navigation Analysis: MIS DeltaMiner explains variances, reveals compensations, and considerably simplifies navigation of multidimensional data. An automatically recommended analysis path directs the user toward the most important facts.
Time-Series Analysis: This function supports the analysis of time series with drag-and-drop options and automatic forecasting procedures.
Power Search: This option allows for the comprehensive analysis of all possible multidimensional views in the database and creates an ascending or descending hit list of exception-causing objects, independent of dimension or hierarchy level.
ABC-Analysis: MIS DeltaMiner can conduct ABC-Analyses for products, regions, consumers, etc. and automatically recommend sensible product classes. It also integrates new groupings of A, B and C objects into the database. The classification of each product then becomes available for top-down navigation and all other types of analysis.
Meta Search: This module integrates analysis of internal and external data by linking DeltaMiner to an Internet search engine. Results of the engine's search (e.g. information about a market segment) can be stored together with relevant analysis objects (e.g. a certain product group's business results).
MIS DeltaMiner is now available in the United States through MIS AG's offices in Florham Park, New Jersey. For more information contact http://www.mis.de
