Anubis Adopts Informatica's Next-Generation
Metadata Exchange (MX2) Architecture
ACTION ITEMS
Informatica Corp., a leading provider of software for deploying enterprise business intelligence and analytic applications, has announced that Anubis, a provider of next-generation data warehouse design technology, will support Informatica's next generation Metadata Exchange (MX2) API (application programming interface). The two companies will work together to enable their respective software products to dynamically exchange technical metadata, with the goal of helping customers reduce the time and cost associated with designing and deploying robust data mart applications.
The integration effort will focus on providing users with a full "lifecycle" approach to designing, deploying and managing a data mart or a data warehouse. Anubis' flagship product, Constructa, addresses the design phase by automating the business dimensional modeling process. Informatica's software, PowerMart, addresses the deployment and management phases through an integrated software suite that handles data extraction, mappings and transformations, and data movement.
The two products will integrate their capabilities by exchanging dynamic metadata through Informatica's MX2 API. "By linking Anubis and Informatica technology, weare providing a capability previously not available to end-users: rapid design and population of a data warehouse/mart, better management of the implementation across all components and an enhanced delivery of analytic applications," said Adeeb Shana'a, a principal at Anubis. "Client concerns of time and cost are no longer prohibitive factors for delivery of successful projects."
"Informatica is excited about the powerful synergy of this relationship," said Diaz Nesamoney, president of Informatica. "Constructa complements PowerMart's core design functionality by providing customers with an industrial-strength environment for modeling their enterprise data warehouse. Together, Informatica and Anubis enable an ideal analytic application delivery architecture, with the real winner being the data warehouse end-user."
Next Generation Metadata Exchange
Informatica's Metadata Exchange (MX) architecture was introduced in February 1997 as a data warehousing industry strategy for integrating decision support metadata between data warehouse repositories and desktop query and reporting tools. MX2 extends the original MX architecture to support a broader variety of decision support resources, including enterprise data modeling applications, analytic applications, OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) products, business intelligence tools and other front end query tools from multiple vendors. MX2 is currently supported by many of the leaders in decision support, including Brio Technology, Business Objects, Cognos, Hummingbird Communications, Hyperion Solutions, Information Advantage/IQ Software, Infospace, LogicWorks (now part of Platinum Technology), Microsoft Corp, MicroStrategy, and Seagate Software.
Constructa's MX2 integration with Informatica delivers a unified data mart development environment. Companies can seamlessly move from data mart design to data sourcing and population, and ultimately DSS development. Constructa's advanced data warehouse design system guides the architect through business dimensional modeling and schema design, and automatically exchanges information with Informatica's PowerMart suite. This enables companies to accelerate the development cycle, propagate changes across all data mart components, and build a centralized architecture that supports the deployment of multiple distributed data marts.
Anubis, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, is a leader in innovative data warehouse design technology. The company offers intelligent design products that automate the warehouse design process, yielding shorter delivery times, higher design quality, and integrated designs across multiple-warehouse and data mart enterprises.
