Advanced Visual Systems Inc. (AVS) announced a new release of its flagship product, AVS/Express Version 4.0, software for transforming complex data into visual information solutions. Version 4.0 includes new Web-enabling features, expanded animation, and interfaces to Oracle 8 Spatial Cartridge and ESRI's Spatial Data Engine. In addition, AVS/Express can now be used to generate Active-X components quickly and easily create or modify applications.
"AVS/Express 4.0 represents a significant leap forward for data visualization," said Harry Cochran, CEO of Advanced Visual Systems Inc. "We are especially pleased with this release because it contains many new features and enhancements requested by our growing installed base. It solidifies our leadership position in data visualization for the software development community and end users, including visualizing data over the Internet and within intranets," added Cochran.
A significant new feature in AVS/Express 4.0 is the Spatial Data Interface that provides a direct link to leading spatial data storage from Oracle and access middleware from ESRI. This allows users to combine spatial analysis techniques with data visualization performed on multidimensional data types from standard relational databases. The blending of the spatial results with data visualization provides enhanced integration and data "fusion" to maximize the value of spatial data and the information which can be derived from it.
AVS/Express is a multi-platform (UNIX, Windows 95 and NT, and Internet/intranet), object-based software environment for visualizing complex data and building applications with interactive visualization and graphics functions. It provides kits that contain numerous reusable objects for data visualization, image processing, graphics display, web interaction, database connectivity and user interface construction. The architecture supports the use of legacy software to protect previous investments. It uses an object-oriented visual programming interface to connect these components to generate interactive 3D visualizations, as well as 2D plots and graphs. AVS/Express provides the environment and platform for software and data integration from multiple sources and data types.
