Data Transformation and Replication for Sybase Environments

DataMirror Corporation, a leading provider of data transformation and replication software, has added the next element towards full, open data mobility with the launch of Transformation Server for Sybase Version 4.2. Featuring the same robust architecture as other DataMirror software, Transformation Server for Sybase now enables bi-directional replication and transformation of data among Sybase databases on UNIX systems as well as between Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server, IBM AS/400, and Oracle data stores.

Transformation Server for Sybase features a change detection engine that replicates data on an incremental change basis. Only changed data is sent from the host Sybase database to one or multiple targets, resulting in reduced overhead and a faster, more efficient process. Flexible scheduling allows for real-time or periodic replication based on user preference. Transformation Server for Sybase can also perform full-copy database refreshes when required. Product functionality and platform independence are extended with the introduction of a new Java-based graphical user interface for central administration of the entire replication process. Other features include powerful data selection and filtering capabilities as well as built-in data transformation, cleansing and enhancement routines that maximize flexibility in data manipulation.
Data cleansing routines applied by Transformation Server for Sybase enhance the value and usefulness of database information to decision makers throughout the organization. Transformation Server enables a variety of powerful data transformations including: allowing users to translate values, derive new calculated fields, reformat field sizes, file names and data types, convert date fields to Y2K compliant formats, and handle other translation requirements like weights and measures, and currency conversions.
