ACTION ITEMS

ISG International Software Group Ltd. announced a partnership with eNVy Systems, a leading vendor of DBMS and data warehouse solutions, to deliver a Universal Data Access (UDA) solution to the data warehouse market. Under the terms of the agreement, eNVy plans to resell ISG Navigator with eNVy's comprehensive Warehouse Plus Suite, allowing customers to simultaneously access data on eNVy's data warehouses and integrate them with corporate information from other databases and legacy sources. This agreement, ISG's first partnership with a data warehouse vendor, signifies the importance of UDA in the data warehouse market and highlights the role that ISG Navigator has achieved as a technology leader.

"ISG Navigator presents a unique value proposition to the data warehouse market. It is the perfect data access solution for enterprises adopting centralized data warehouses and data marts. ISG Navigator provides a strategic infrastructure that allows enterprises to connect to and integrate all of their data -- within and outside their data warehouse using popular Business Intelligence and Decision Support tools," said ISG chairman and CEO Arie Gonen. "In addition, ISG Navigator gives users of data warehouses the flexibility to access transaction detail from source databases and also helps speed the completion of data warehouse projects. Offering ISG Navigator with the eNVy Warehouse Plus Suite adds to the functionality and development of data warehouses by providing flexible Universal Data Access capabilities."

"Other data access vendors were unable to work effectively with the new OLE BD and ADO data access standards and lacked heterogeneous join capabilities. ISG Navigator satisfies both requirements, making it the clearly superior tool and ideal for use in data warehouse environments, especially those that must accommodate a variety of legacy sources," said Bob Birnstihl, eNVy Systems' COO. "Of particular interest to us was ISG Navigator's ability to quickly and seamlessly access real-time data, making it the perfect companion to our popular Warehouse Suite. ISG Navigator and the eNVy Warehouse Suite together will satisfy virtually every conceivable data mart/warehouse requirement. They accommodate virtually every data source, including CA's manufacturing application data, providing a competitive advantage to enterprises integrating Windows NT and Intranet data access technologies."

Data warehouse industry revenue is expected to reach over $1.8 billion this year, growing from 1997 revenue estimated at almost $1.5 billion, according to industry analyst group Dataquest, a unit of Gartner Group Inc. Dataquest analysts expect continued market success with the entrance of traditional relational database vendors such as Microsoft.
