As more companies build customer-centric information warehouses to improve their supply and demand chains, they realize that quality and currency of customer information are two of the most critical success factors. Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) has announced a product that enables companies to scrub, clean and match their customer information against the D&B global database, consisting of 50 million business records.

This product, Dun & Bradstreet Connect, acts as a refinery of information from multiple sources and affords the user the unique capability to link varied information through the broadly accepted D&B D-U-N-S Number. Through fast electronic network connections, the D&B database can be implemented onsite, giving the customer greater control and quicker resolution of the data refinery process.

"As customers accelerate their implementation of the demand chain through information warehousing, Dun & Bradstreet Connect affords them the reliability of the world's most trusted information base, integration of multiple information sources and resolution of data matching -- all working to satisfy the quest for higher information quality and better marketing results, " said Norm Rich, vice president, D&B Information Warehouse Solutions.

"We are constantly striving to improve the service we provide to our customers," said Barbara Reeder, vice president, Global Marketing Communications for Lucent Technologies Business Communications Systems. "To be most useful, customer information needs to be accurate, up-to-date, and in one place," said Reeder, "and tools such as D&B Connect -- which will create a single customer record by combining Dun & Bradstreet's information with information stored in our own databases -- are an excellent way to boost service and build better relationships with our customers."

Another company seeking better marketing results through Dun & Bradstreet Connect is Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Cargill Inc., a $51 billion international marketer, processor and distributor of agricultural, food, financial and industrial products and the largest privately held company in the United States.

"The relationship between Cargill and Dun & Bradstreet has developed into a real partnership of ideas and results. We believe that the Dun & Bradstreet Connect product will help us better understand our customers and markets. D&B has certainly grown beyond a credit reference company," said Wayne Majzner, department manager -- Foundation Data Department for Cargill.
