Unica Technologies, Inc. announced that it has formed a Consulting Division to help customers integrate advanced data mining technology into their marketing campaigns. The Unica Consulting Division consists of a team of specialists skilled in both the technology of data mining as well as the application of data mining to solving real-world problems. The consulting division will report to Rodger Burkley, VP of Business Development while day-to-day activities will be run by Kerry Reilly, Vice President of Database Marketing Consulting.

More and more customers are asking us to teach them about data mining in a marketing context, help them implement data mining-based marketing programs, and complete data mining projects for them. Growth of the internet, electronic commerce, and data warehousing have produced unprecedented volumes of data that companies are now trying to turn into actionable knowledge. Unica Consulting offers a variety of services including evaluation of customers' existing data mining activities, start-up plans for beginning data miners, customized training programs, guidance on data preprocessing and preparation, strategies for integrating data mining technology into marketing processes and IT infrastructure, and methods for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of ongoing data mining endeavors. Additionally, Unica Consulting can actually develop and run data mining models for customers on a one-time or ongoing basis. Unica Consultants typically work on a fixed-price basis per project, which simplifies the customer's planning and budgeting process. Hourly rate consulting is also available if the customer prefers. Consultants can travel to the customer site and can work in teams or individually.
