American Software Announces Strategic Alliance with Pilot
Software to Offer Intelliprise Data Mart for AS/400 Market
ACTION ITEMS
Pilot Software, a leading provider of Web-based and client/server Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) business intelligence solutions, and American Software have announced an agreement under which American Software will use Pilot's technology and OLAP engine to deliver Intelliprise data marts for the AS/400 market.
The first AS/400 Intelliprise data mart application is called Channel Performance and is being marketed by American Software and its distributors. Channel Performance provides value to customers by delivering pre-defined key performance indicators that measure customer satisfaction, product profitability and sales performance. Additional data mart applications based on Pilot's technology are in process for future delivery.
Intelliprise was introduced earlier this year by American Software as a next-generation integrated supply chain management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. One of the strongest features of Intelliprise is an integrated data warehouse that provides an "out of the box" set of data marts. These data marts support advanced decision-making while allowing for consistent, one-source information across multiple operations, currencies, languages and even companies. This paradigm allows the user to apply periodic updates of transactional data without the need for a process to scrub the data in order to prepare it for the data mart. The data marts can provide for continual business monitoring as well as current operational insights.
"American Software has truly hit upon a valuable data mart with Channel Performance," said John Diggins, Pilot's president and CEO. "By utilizing our Pilot Decision Support Suite (PDSS), American Software obtained an OLAP engine that accommodates the large volumes of enterprise data that Intelliprise customers process and a robust tool set for rapid development."
PDSS is targeted at the full spectrum of cross-industry information users who need robust, high-performance analytical solutions. It enables people to analyze their operational, market and customer data, discover critical factors and trends that drive the business, then use that knowledge to take specific actions to optimize company performance. Pilot, in concert with partner Venture SystemSource (VSS), is enabling this new solution to run on the AS/400.
"The high-performance Pilot engine upon which our Intelliprise data marts are founded enable us to rapidly deploy data marts, based on our unique three-tier approach," said James C. Edenfield, president and CEO of American Software. "By helping customers quickly deploy business intelligence capabilities, this advanced approach provides the perspective to make more strategic decisions and the business speed that leads to rapid results."
On the client, American Software's Intelliprise data mart solutions offer graphical views that illustrate business knowledge. Users can even "snap off" a data mart and take it with them, just like taking a dynamic report with them on their laptop. Users have the ability to review the information and drill down for more detail as needed. Intelliprise data marts provide insights to several levels of the enterprise, from the CEO to the business-line manager to the customer service or product manager.
